After some exploring around the game, you have come across a chest that looks like a skull with a purple glow coming from it’s. There is no way to open or even interact with the chest. Is there a way to open the purple skull chests?

Yes, it is possible to open the purple skull chests in Breath of the Wild, but you can’t open them when they are purple. Usually, when you find a chest, there will be some enemies nearby. Kill all of the enemies and the skull chest will change from purple to yellow. When the eyes on the chest are glowing yellow, you can open it up and get the loot that is inside.
