Side With Bobbi or Hancock in The Big Dig?

Side With Bobbi or Hancock

In Fallout 4, “The Big Dig” is a side quest that begins when the player meets Bobbi No-Nose, a ghoul residing in Goodneighbor. Bobbi recruits the player to help her with a heist that involves digging a tunnel to reach Diamond City’s strongroom, which supposedly contains valuable treasures.

Throughout the quest, the player will be tasked with clearing out various obstacles, including Mirelurks and Feral Ghouls, as well as dealing with a dispute between Bobbi and her former employee, Mel. Eventually, the player will reach a pivotal decision point in the quest when it is revealed that the actual target is Hancock, the mayor of Goodneighbor, and his strongroom.

The challenging choice for the player is deciding whether to side with Bobbi or Hancock:

  1. Side with Bobbi: The player can choose to help Bobbi complete the heist, which involves attacking and defeating Hancock’s bodyguard Fahrenheit and potentially killing Hancock. After completing the heist, the player will receive a reward of 500 caps and a unique weapon called “Ashmaker,” a minigun that deals additional fire damage. This decision will cause the player to become enemies with Hancock, preventing him from becoming a companion later in the game. However, the player can still access Goodneighbor and its resources.
  2. Side with Hancock: The player can choose to betray Bobbi and inform Hancock of her plan. Together, they will confront Bobbi, and the player will have to kill her. Afterward, Hancock will reward the player with 500 caps and his appreciation. This decision allows Hancock to become a potential companion later in the game, and the player will maintain good relations with Goodneighbor.

Both choices in “The Big Dig” quest have their own rewards and consequences. The primary impact on the player’s experiences later in the game is the potential loss of Hancock as a companion if they choose to side with Bobbi. The quest serves as an opportunity for players to explore their moral compass and make a decision that aligns with their preferred playstyle.
