I have built a research chamber and I have found a large chunk of material to place into it but it isn’t working. The machine isn’t activating even though I have a valid item to place into it?

Make sure the item is actually placed properly in the chamber. It is possible to drop an item so that it is inside the main chamber area, but you must make it snap onto the structure properly for it to begin researching.
Once you have it snap into place, let go and it should be fine. If not, make sure that the research chamber is connected to power via a cable. You will need a large platform for the chamber as it is quite large. Once it is on the platform, connect the power and then make sure the item is secured inside the research area. It will activate then and start processing the item.
