Why do gold stars come out of the pokeball when i catch a Pokemon?

I have noticed lately that when i catch a Pokemon in Pokemon Go a bunch of gold stars will fly out of the Pokeball. I thought it was something to do with a shiny, but none of them are every shiny. What does it mean when gold stars come out of the Pokeball?
