I am finding the game gets really hard for the level of the final boss. Is there a way to lower the difficulty of this game?

Yes, you can lower the difficulty from the main bar. Walk to the left and interact with the smily face neon sign. I would suggest you check out the beginner’s guide for Neon Abyss here. It will give you some useful tips to help you get better at the game so that you can take on the bosses a lot easier.
