The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
The biggest selling point of this game was the fact the world has become overrun with these beasts. Dragons in Elder Scrolls Skyrim has a world that is filled with dragons that have risen from the dead. They are plaguing the population and when you come across one, you must use your best combat skills to take one on. When you are on foot, you best make sure you are a good archer in order to be able to kill a dragon before it kills you.
World of Warcraft
One of the most popular RPGs ever made, with it being a fantasy setting, it was natural that dragons would be a part of the WOW universe. Dragons are not playable characters but they are a common enemy. They range in size with larger amounts of smaller ones all the way up to one of the games vanilla bosses Onyxia. A large black dragon that was once a formidable enemy and later became a boss that a small group of over levelled characters could take down quite easily.
Dragon Age Series
The name is in the title when it comes to Dragon Age. Dragons feature as bosses quite often. They are not as common as they are in some other RPGs but they still play a large part of this games lore.

Not a great video game but a popular RPG all the same. Dragons are also used quite often as boss character in the Dungeons & Dragons series. Depending on how much the dungeon master loved them, you could have your work cut out for you if you were put up against one of these beasts.
Did Dragons Exist / Why are Dragons Extinct?
So on the topic of why are dragons extinct, the answer is they are not. The reason why is the answer to whether dragons actually existed in the first place. They can’t be extinct because they never actually existed. Dragons are nothing more than a fantasy myth.
Dragons are quite similar to dinosaurs in that they are oversized reptiles. The ability for a beast this large to be able to fly is difficult enough to find some credibility behind. Their ability to breathe fire the same way a flamethrower works is very difficult to believe. Dragons are based on magic and most fantasy games and stories will acknowledge that dragons are magical beings.
What’s The Difference Between A Dragon and A Wyvern
Dragons and Wyverns are mixed up very often. They are similar creatures but they are not the same. Knowing the difference between a Dragon and a Wyvern is important. Both are large lizards, both can fly and both can breathe fire. They look almost the same, the difference is with the legs.
A dragon has four legs with wings that are attached to the creatures back. A wyvern has two legs where the front legs/arms are part of the wings. Quite similar to the wings of a bat. Wyverns will often have hooks on their wings and will walk around using their wings to help balance.
