I was able to get inside the monestary and I’ve opened some shutters looking out into the small pond/ water area. There is a fence outside that looks like it has 3 puzzles on it where only one is currently active. I don’t see any clues around the place that will give me a hint on how to actually solve it. Has anyone been able to figure out how to get the pattern on the trellace at the monastery in The Witness?

The square shape that you draw around the small tree inside the monestary is the secret. Draw the square so that the line not filled in, is the line facing the wall where the trellace is on the other side. This will raise a different set of shutters. Once the shutters are raised you will see the puzzle on the other side and the markings on the wall will pass over the puzzle on the fence outside, showing you the path to take to solve it. There is an exception to the final one, this is solved a little differently, but you should be able to work it out if you look around.
