Will Spider-Man 2 Swing Its Way onto Xbox?

Will Spider-Man 2 Swing Its Way onto Xbox?

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been eagerly awaiting any news about the highly anticipated sequel to Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man (2018). With the recent announcement of Spider-Man 2, the excitement is palpable. But there’s one question on the minds of many Xbox owners: will Spider-Man 2 be released on the Xbox platform?

First, let’s take a quick trip down memory lane. Insomniac Games, known for their fantastic work on the Ratchet & Clank series and the original Spyro the Dragon games, struck gold with their take on everyone’s favorite web-slinger. The 2018 Spider-Man game was a massive success, both critically and commercially, and it was exclusive to the PlayStation 4.

Now, fast forward to today. Insomniac Games is now a part of PlayStation Studios, which means they’re under the Sony umbrella. This development has led many to believe that the chances of Spider-Man 2 swinging its way onto Xbox consoles are, well, slim to none.

But hey, let’s not lose hope just yet! There have been instances in the past where PlayStation exclusives have eventually made their way to other platforms. For example, take a look at the once PlayStation-exclusive series, Final Fantasy. Many of the games in that series have since been released on Xbox and other platforms.

However, it’s important to note that the situation with Spider-Man is a bit different. Sony holds the movie rights to Spider-Man, and their partnership with Insomniac Games and Marvel makes the webhead a valuable asset in the ongoing console wars. It’s not impossible for Spider-Man 2 to find its way onto Xbox consoles, but it’s definitely an uphill battle.

So, what’s the verdict? As much as I’d love to tell my fellow Xbox gamers that they’ll be swinging through New York City as Peter Parker and Miles Morales in Spider-Man 2, the odds are not in our favor. With Insomniac Games being a part of PlayStation Studios and Sony’s vested interest in the Spider-Man franchise, it’s highly likely that Spider-Man 2 will remain a PlayStation exclusive.

Of course, we’ll keep you updated on any developments or surprises regarding Spider-Man 2’s potential release on Xbox. But for now, it seems like our Xbox controllers will remain web-free.
