How To Repair Weapons & Shields

Repair Weapons & Shields

The Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom introduces a novel concept for repairing and potentially upgrading weapons and shields. In this guide, we’ll delve into the step-by-step process on how to make the most of this feature using the rock Octoroks in the Eldin region.

  1. Locate a Rock Octorok: These creatures are not your ordinary foes. Rock Octoroks are squid-like creatures known for their distinct ability to chew and spit out flaming rocks. They are most commonly found in the arid and perilous Eldin region near Death Mountain. Here, amongst the Goron community, you’re likely to encounter these creatures.
  2. Approach the Rock Octorok with Caution: Keep in mind that these are wild creatures, so startling them might turn them hostile. Maintain a safe distance while interacting with them.
  3. Drop Your Weapon or Shield Near the Rock Octorok: Select the weapon or shield that requires repair from your inventory and drop it close enough to the Octorok that it can interact with it but not so close that you threaten the creature.
  4. Step Back and Observe: As you retreat, the Rock Octorok will move in to investigate the item. It will then inhale the weapon or shield you’ve dropped, churning it within its stone-like body.
  5. Retrieve Your Repaired Item: After a short time, the Rock Octorok will spit out the item, now fully repaired. To your surprise, you might also find that your weapon or shield has received a bonus upgrade such as enhanced critical damage, improved durability, or even other potential buffs.

Restrictions and Limitations:

  • One-time Use: Each Rock Octorok can only repair a single item before it must be killed. If you want to repeat this process, you will have to wait until the next blood moon, when enemies respawn, to find another Rock Octorok.
  • No Amiibo Weapons: Unfortunately, the game does not allow you to repair or upgrade any weapons or shields you’ve acquired through amiibo. These items are exempt from this feature and must be used wisely as they wear out.

This system of repairing and upgrading weapons is unique to The Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom and encourages a more strategic approach to inventory management. Experiment with different weapons and upgrades to find a balance that works for you, and never let a good Rock Octorok go to waste.
