Bile Spewer

Bile Spewer

The Bile Spewer, a menacing adversary in Helldivers 2, belongs to the Terminid faction. This creature emerged in the aftermath of unavoidable spills of toxic chemicals on Terminid E-710 farms. These spills caused the Bile Spewer’s thorax to swell, housing several metric tons of corrosive acids. The creature uses this acidic arsenal to attack, vomiting its contents in revulsion upon encountering forces of Democracy.

The Bile Spewer’s threatening presence is not just due to its formidable size and acid payload. Its ability to hit targets from a long distance with its bile makes it a significant challenge on the battlefield. Understanding how to efficiently combat these creatures is crucial for any Helldiver aiming to survive encounters with the Terminid faction.

Tactics

Bile Spewers become a factor in battles on planets featuring bug missions from the Medium level onwards. They are sometimes highlighted as primary targets in their own special quests. These enemies are notorious for their long-range bile attacks, targeting any Helldivers within sight. The bile not only has a long reach but can cause severe damage, making these creatures a priority target.

Though formidable, Bile Spewers have vulnerabilities. Their backs can be exploited using explosives, which bypass the creature’s natural defenses. However, targeting the head proves more effective, as it is their critical weak spot. Unlike attacks on other body parts, damage to the head is not reduced, allowing for more efficient eliminations. Weapons with armor-penetrating capabilities are recommended for headshots. Successfully landing a grenade near or under a Spewer can result in an instant kill or severe damage. Specific weapons, like the rail gun and grenade launcher, have proven effectiveness against these foes.

Variations

The Nursing Spewer stands as a sub-adult variation of the Bile Spewer, possessing similar characteristics but with notable differences. These include slightly less effective tracking and damage in its primary attack, along with reduced armor. Notably, Nursing Spewers lack the bile mortar mode present in adults on harder difficulties. They emit a low-lying fog, aiding in their detection from a distance but also presenting a significant risk in close combat. Eliminating a Nursing Spewer will disperse this fog, removing the immediate threat.

In higher difficulty levels, such as Suicide Mission, players must be vigilant of Bile Spewers transitioning to mortar mode when distanced from Helldivers. This mode involves launching a volley of three high-explosive bile shots into the air, potentially one-shotting a Helldiver upon impact. The shift to mortar mode adds a strategic layer to encounters, demanding careful positioning and awareness from players.

Notes

Engagements with Bile Spewers, especially on higher difficulties, require strategic planning and quick reflexes. Effective use of terrain, optimal weapon choice, and awareness of the Spewer’s attack patterns are key to overcoming these toxic adversaries. By exploiting their vulnerabilities and adopting a tactical approach, Helldivers can minimize the threat posed by these formidable foes and continue their fight for Democracy.
