Hulk

Hulk

The Hulk enemies in Helldivers 2 represent a significant challenge to players, drawing inspiration from the iconic Dreadnaught of the Warhammer 40k series. These heavy units, part of the Automaton faction, are optimized for one thing only: delivering devastating firepower on the battlefield. This guide details the three types of Hulks encountered, their distinct armaments, vulnerabilities, and recommended tactics for successful engagement in combat.

Types of Hulks

The Hulks can be distinguished into three primary categories based on their weaponry, which dictates their approach in combat and the strategies players should adopt to counter them.

Standard Hulks

Equipped with autocannons and rocket launchers, Standard Hulks offer a balanced threat capable of delivering high-damage salvos at range. Their versatility on the battlefield makes them a considerable threat in any engagement.

Flame Hulks

Flame Hulks carry flamethrowers, making them especially dangerous at close range. Their ability to sweep large areas with fire demands swift and decisive action to neutralize before they can close distance with friendly forces.

Rocket Hulks

Rocket Hulks are armed with rocket pods, enabling them to unleash volleys of explosive projectiles. Their attacks are particularly effective against grouped units, necessitating spread-out tactics to mitigate their impact.

Tactics

Despite their formidable armament, Hulk units have vulnerabilities that can be exploited with the right strategy. Understanding these weaknesses is key to overcoming these titanic foes.

Weak Points

The armored behemoths are nearly impervious to damage from the front but possess two critical vulnerabilities. Their rear panel is the primary weak spot; sustained attacks here can cause them to overheat and explode. Alternatively, targeting the less armored head with piercing weapons like the anti-material rifle or railgun can also yield success.

Engagement Strategies

Maintaining distance is paramount when facing Hulks. Long-range attacks allow Helldivers the opportunity to maneuver into positions to target their weak points without exposing themselves to retaliatory fire. Flanking maneuvers, preferably executed with precision and from afar, are the most effective tactic.

When direct engagement is unavoidable, or when the opportunity presents itself, calling in explosive stratagems such as Orbital or Eagle Strikes can deliver the decisive blow needed to eliminate these heavy units. However, due to their significant armor, timing, and placement of these strikes must be carefully considered to ensure maximum effect.
