Borderlands 4 is out now worldwide as of September 12, 2025, marking the next chapter in Gearbox Software’s looter-shooter series under the 2K banner.
The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is scheduled to arrive on October 3, 2025.
Set on the planet Kairos, Borderlands 4 pits players against the oppressive Timekeeper and their army, The Order. Cybernetic implants factor into both the narrative and moment-to-moment combat, adding a technological edge to firefights across the new setting.
Players can choose from four new Vault Hunters and wield billions of weapons, with fresh traversal options including the Digirunner vehicle to cut across zones and engage encounters from new angles.
Progression leans into deep skill trees and build crafting, while seamless travel between zones keeps pacing brisk. Dynamic events and a wide spread of side missions encourage exploration beyond the critical path.
Borderlands 4 supports solo play or co-op for up to four players. Instanced loot ensures everyone gets their own drops, while level scaling and individual difficulty settings let squads tailor challenge without sidelining newcomers.
Post-launch plans include a mix of free and paid DLC. The publisher notes that more details will be shared on the official website.
Editions and pricing
Three editions are available at launch: the Standard Edition for $69.99, the Deluxe Edition for $99.99 with the Bounty Pack Bundle, and the Super Deluxe Edition for $129.99 with the Vault Hunter Pack and additional content.
