Silent Hill f to Launch as Standalone Spin-Off
The next installment in the Silent Hill franchise, Silent Hill f, is set to make its debut on PlayStation 5 on September 25. Developed by NeoBards, this entry stands apart as a standalone spin-off, introducing a fresh narrative and environment while maintaining the psychological horror for which the series is known.
The game transports players to 1960s Japan—a departure from the series’ usual settings. The story centers on Hinako, a girl who ventures away from home in response to conflict with her father, marking the beginning of a psychological journey fraught with tension and enigmatic encounters.

Atmosphere Enhanced by Immersive Perspective and Detailed Visuals
Silent Hill f employs an over-the-shoulder camera perspective reminiscent of the 2024 Silent Hill 2 remake by Bloober Team. This approach is intended to heighten player immersion and amplify the game’s tense atmosphere. The environments, ranging from dense forests to the streets of Ebisugaoka—a Japanese town depicted in vivid 4K—undergo dramatic changes as the story unfolds.
Players will navigate Ebisugaoka’s maze-like streets, contending with narrow pathways, blind corners, and a terrain that shifts in elevation. Notably, the absence of familiar warning items means that heightened awareness becomes crucial for survival, as threats may be lurking just beyond the next corner.

Puzzles, Combat, and Core Mechanics
Puzzles in Silent Hill f are inspired by Japanese culture and are closely tied to the narrative, penned by scriptwriter Ryukishi07. Each puzzle seeks to immerse players more deeply into the game’s eerie setting while driving the unfolding psychological story.
Combat emphasizes melee encounters, providing access to weapons such as an iron pipe, sickle, dagger, and the naginata polearm. A Sanity mechanic introduces additional challenge, and counterattacks require precise timing. Weapon durability adds a layer of strategy, with most arms susceptible to damage, though the dagger and naginata in the Otherworld offer exceptions to this rule.

The demo concludes with a battle against a formidable shrine maiden monster known as Sakiko, providing a glimpse of the intense horror and combat elements players can expect when Silent Hill f launches this September.
