PS5 Remote Play lets you stream your console to an iPad so you can play away from the TV. It works best on a strong home network, but it can also be used remotely when the console and iPad have a reliable internet connection.

Before You Start
Make sure your PS5 is updated, connected to the internet, and signed in to the same PlayStation Network account you plan to use in the Remote Play app. Your iPad should also be updated to a recent version of iPadOS and connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
A controller is strongly recommended. Depending on your iPadOS version and controller firmware, you can use a DualSense or DualShock 4 over Bluetooth. Some games can be controlled with the on-screen layout, but it is not ideal for most PS5 titles.
Enable Remote Play on the PS5
- On the PS5, open Settings.
- Go to System > Remote Play.
- Turn on Enable Remote Play.
- To use Remote Play while the console is in rest mode, go to System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode.
- Enable Stay Connected to the Internet and Enable Turning On PS5 from Network.
Install and Connect the iPad App
- Download PS Remote Play from the App Store.
- Open the app and sign in with the same PlayStation Network account used on the console.
- Select PS5 when asked which console to connect to.
- Wait while the app searches for your console and starts the stream.
If automatic discovery fails, the app may ask you to enter a manual link code from the PS5 Remote Play settings screen.
Pair a Controller with iPad
To pair a DualSense controller, hold the Create button and the PS button until the light bar flashes. On the iPad, open Settings > Bluetooth and select the controller from the list. For a DualShock 4, hold Share and PS until the light bar flashes, then pair it from the Bluetooth menu.
Improve Streaming Quality
For the smoothest experience, connect the PS5 to your router with Ethernet and use the iPad close to a strong Wi-Fi access point. If the stream stutters, avoid congested Wi-Fi bands, close background apps, and reduce other network traffic such as downloads or video streaming.
Common Problems
If the app cannot find your PS5, confirm that both devices are signed in to the same account, Remote Play is enabled, and the console is either powered on or configured for network wake from rest mode. If the controller connects to the PS5 instead of the iPad, turn off the console or reset the controller’s Bluetooth pairing before trying again.
Best Use Cases
Remote Play on iPad is ideal for playing in another room, using the PS5 while the main TV is occupied, or continuing slower-paced games from a more comfortable spot. For competitive online games, local play on the TV will usually feel more responsive, but a strong network can still make Remote Play surprisingly usable.
