Poison-type Pokémon are one of the 18 different types of Pokémon in the Pokémon franchise. These Pokémon are often based on toxic or venomous creatures such as snakes and spiders. They are known for their ability to inflict the Poison or Toxic status condition on opponents, which causes damage over time. They also have powerful special attacks and can sometimes have secondary abilities that allow them to inflict additional status conditions like sleep or paralysis. Poison-type Pokémon are also known for their resistance to Poison- and Ground-type moves, but are weak against Psychic- and Ground-type moves. Poison-types are super effective against Grass and Fairy types, but weak against Ground and Psychic types. Some well-known Poison-type Pokémon include Ekans, Nidoking and Toxapex.
