Generation VI

The sixth generation of Pokémon games, also known as the “Gen VI” games, was released in 2013 and includes Pokémon X and Y. This generation introduced 72 new species of Pokémon, bringing the total number of species to 721.

The sixth generation games take place in a new region called Kalos and feature new cities, towns, and routes to explore, as well as new Gym Leaders and Elite Four members to battle. The games also introduce new gameplay mechanics, such as the ability to customize the appearance of the player’s character and the introduction of “Mega Evolution,” where certain Pokémon can temporarily evolve mid-battle into a more powerful form.

Another significant addition of the sixth generation is the “Fairy-type” Pokémon, a new type of Pokémon added to the franchise for the first time in over a decade. The sixth generation also introduced the “Fairy-type” move, which is super effective against Dragon-type Pokémon.
