Astroneer - Steel

Steel is a composite resource in Astroneer. In order to create steel in real life, you need to use Iron with carbon. The process is the same in this game. In order to create it you will need to have some carbon with argon gas. Steel is used to create some of the best structures in the game. Frustrating when titanium is more plentiful. Either way, steel is going to be one of those resources that you can never have enough of and end up needing to spend a lot of time working toward gathering.

How Do You Get Steel?

In order to obtain steel, you are going to need quite a few things at your disposal. You will of course need the standard chemistry lab to produce it. Argon gas, however, requires you to travel to another planet that contains it. You will also need to get iron, which also requires you to travel to another planet.

What Can You Craft With Steel?

Since crafting steel requires a bit of planet-hopping to get the ingredients, it is useful that it is used to create the hydrazine thruster. This thruster will help a lot with being able to travel between planets without fuel being as much of an issue as it is with the solid fuel thruster. This should be one of the first things you construct with steel to greatly reduce the effort you need to put into gathering it.
