Speedball is back. Rebellion has launched the full version on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam, bringing the 1988 Bitmap Brothers cult classic into the modern era after its time in Early Access on PC.
Set in the grim year 2138, Speedball embraces its dystopian roots: a ruthless, televised future sport run by mega-corporations to keep the masses enthralled. Matches are fast, explosive, and volatile, rewarding quick passing, tight coordination, and clinical shooting under pressure.
At the heart of the package is a League Mode featuring 10 teams battling through a full season. Rebellion mixes arcade aggression with sports management layers, letting you build and organize your squad around individual traits and talents. The game’s arenas come in Brutal and Standard variants, each with their own hazards and power-ups, and tackles are punctuated by a slow-motion Slam Cam that underscores the crunch.
Variety is baked into the matchday experience: arena-specific obstacles change the flow of play; special abilities can swing momentum in a heartbeat; and you can hone skills against AI, test teamwork locally, or take the competition online.
