Roadwarden Debuts on Nintendo Switch
Moral Anxiety Studio’s celebrated text-based RPG, Roadwarden, has officially arrived on Nintendo Switch as of August 25. After receiving high praise following its original PC launch in September 2022, the title is now reaching a new audience, combining interactive fiction with a deep, narrative-driven role-playing experience.
Players are placed in the boots of a lone adventurer hired by a merchant guild. Tasked with exploring an enigmatic and dangerous peninsula, you’ll face challenges ranging from guarding travelers against all manner of threats to aiding isolated villages and unearthing well-hidden secrets of the land.

Central to Roadwarden’s appeal is its immersive, 30-hour campaign, which weaves survival mechanics into the adventure. Players must carefully manage their health, nourishment, time, and other vital resources to survive the harsh and ever-changing world they travel through.
The game stands out for its tough moral dilemmas and a branching narrative filled with quests and secrets. A robust character creation system allows players to choose their class—warrior, mage, or scholar—and customize their background, influencing how encounters and choices unfold throughout the journey.
Blending evocative pixel art in an isometric style with classic RPG frameworks and the spirit of adventure games, Roadwarden creates a unique genre fusion. Each decision impacts the outcome of your story, ensuring that every playthrough offers something new and unexpected.

Praise from the gaming press has been strong, with The Escapist remarking, “Roadwarden is more Witcher than The Witcher,” and Eurogamer calling it “one of the finest historical fantasies you’ll play.” The Switch launch introduces the game globally (with a Korea release coming soon), and offers a 20% discount off its normal EUR 10.99/USD price for a limited time.
Developed by Moral Anxiety Studio and published by Assemble Entertainment, Roadwarden invites players to lose themselves in a world where every choice matters and discovery lies around every corner.
