Lasot Interactive has announced Rustic Defense, a hexagonal fantasy tower defense game that blends roguelike exploration with strategic base-building. Players navigate randomly generated maps, shaping their route after each wave to discover new challenges and rewards.
Combat revolves around 15 turret types spread across five categories—archery, natural, guns, throwing, and splash. As runs progress, advanced turrets introduce elemental damage like fire, poison, and ice, alongside special attack effects that open up flexible synergies and counters.
Heroes can be unlocked to support defenses, with their availability tied to player progression. Enemies invade from four distinct biomes—Valley, Mountains, Desert, and Swamp—each bringing unique armor types and elemental resistances that reward thoughtful tower placement and upgrade paths.
The campaign unfolds across ten chapters on procedurally generated maps, with each chapter featuring 40–50 waves designed to last around an hour. After every wave, players choose their direction on the hex grid, shaping their route, risk, and resource opportunities.
Between runs, experience earned from the highest wave reached can be invested in long-term growth. Players unlock new abilities, passive permanent skills, and additional powers added to their deck, gradually enabling tougher chapters and more complex builds.
Progression focuses on specializing into epic cards and fine-tuning hero skills, making successive attempts feel stronger and more personalized. With escalating difficulty and richer rewards, deeper chapters challenge optimized loadouts and efficient resource use.
