ESO Champion Point System Guide

eso champion point

The Champion Point system in The Elder Scrolls Online is the main progression layer after level 50. Champion Points are account-wide, meaning your alts can benefit once you start earning them. The system gives you bonuses for combat, survival, utility, crafting, gathering, and quality-of-life improvements.

When Champion Points Unlock

Champion Points begin after a character reaches level 50. From there, experience contributes toward Champion Point ranks instead of normal levels. These points can then be spent across the Champion Point trees.

The Three Champion Point Trees

Warfare focuses on damage, healing, critical bonuses, mitigation, and combat performance. Fitness focuses on health, stamina, movement, sustain, and survival. Craft focuses on gathering, gold, treasure, crafting utility, and exploration benefits.

Slotted vs Passive Stars

Some Champion Point bonuses are passive once purchased. Others must be slotted on your Champion Bar to work. Always check whether a star needs to be equipped, because un-slotted stars may do nothing even after you spend points on them.

How to Spend Points Early

Start with broad bonuses that help your role. Damage dealers should prioritize damage and critical support. Tanks should prioritize survivability and mitigation. Healers should prioritize healing, sustain, and support. Everyone benefits from movement, resource sustain, and useful Craft tree perks.

Respeccing Champion Points

You can respec Champion Points, so do not panic if your first setup is imperfect. Adjust your choices as your build changes, especially when switching between solo, dungeon, trial, PvP, or crafting-focused play.
