My group wants a long Old Republic campaign, and some players are new to tabletop games. We’re considering Star Wars D6 and the Fantasy Flight Games system. Which would work better for Sith, or a mix of Sith and Jedi?
Which Star Wars RPG works for an Old Republic Sith campaign?

If you already know D6, that’s a real advantage for a long campaign, especially with new players. You’ll spend less time learning the rules while running the game. The main wrinkle for a Sith-focused story is that its dark side rules are built around characters falling, so you may need to change how those rules handle long-term Sith characters.

The Fantasy Flight Games system may be worth considering if you want a different style of play, but its special dice add something for the group to learn. That could be a small hurdle for new players. If you choose it, make sure everyone is comfortable with the dice before you commit to a long campaign.

For a game where Sith and Jedi are meant to stay playable alongside each other, decide what you want the dark side to do before picking a system. D6’s rules may push against a campaign where characters are Sith from the start. You could revise or remove the part that forces a character out of play, but it’s worth comparing that option with another system before settling on one.
