I’m considering running paid tabletop RPG sessions through StartPlaying.games. How should I weigh the possible benefits against the prep and effort of getting a group started?
Is paid GMing worth trying as a side gig?

It can make it easier for people to find a game when their schedules or local options make a regular group hard to arrange. Paid sessions can also give players a chance to try a game system without buying all the books first. For a GM, charging can be a reason to put extra care into preparation, communication, and the online setup.

I’d treat it as a side gig to test, not a predictable income source. One reported experience took about a month to get the first group going, and keeping sessions running involved prep and communication outside game time. A few weekly games may suit someone looking for extra income, but the workload could make doing it full time a very different commitment.
