Similar to what we had seen introduced in the Uncharted series, The Last of Us contains a series of optional conversations. These typically take place after larger story events and give you the option to have an additional conversation with a character to dig deeper into a topic or just learn a little more about what is on this person’s mind.
An optional conversation is signaled by an icon above the player’s head that looks like a black map pin with three curved lines. There will also be a prompt to press triangle when you are close enough to the character to initiate the optional conversation.
There are 37 optional conversations in this game, all of which can be missed if you progress passed the area in which they can be triggered. The video guide below will show you where to find all of these optional conversations.
As with many of the other side activities, such as shiv doors, hidden collectibles, and Ellie’s jokes, collecting all of the optional conversations will unlock a trophy. This silver trophy will get you that little bit closer to the platinum trophy.
