I’ve seen a proposal for a Tier 8 Hood based on an uncompleted overhaul, with tougher extremities, a stronger heal, quicker guns, and revised AA and secondaries. Does that sound like a fun distinct version, or too many upgrades at once?

The idea has a clear hook, but the package sounds like a lot of strength stacked together. More protection, a better heal, faster reload, an extra upgrade slot, and stronger AA all matter, even if none is extreme on its own. I’d start by deciding what makes this version different in battle, then tune the rest around that rather than carrying every proposed improvement over.

That makes sense. I’d rather see it keep a distinct identity than just become a straight upgrade to the existing Hood.

As a game concept, revised AA and the 133 mm secondaries could give the ship a recognizable refit feel. The exact fit is speculative, though, since the overhaul was never completed. I’d be cautious about treating every planned change as a ready-made gameplay upgrade, especially at a higher tier. A modest reload improvement and one or two defensive changes might be enough to make it feel different.

I’d keep the plane choice flexible and avoid making the AA the whole selling point. The proposal already gives it a stronger mid-range AA focus, while removing short-range AA, so that tradeoff could be more interesting than simply raising every damage number. The key is making the refit play differently without making the older Hood feel obsolete.
