After a patch changes a hero or item a lot, should the related relics or challenge stats be adjusted too? Some people feel it is unfair when a big balance change makes older goals awkward or harder to finish.
Should relics get updated after a big patch change?

If the patch changes the whole way a hero is played, then yeah, updating the relics makes sense. Otherwise you end up with objectives that were built around an old version of the game and they can feel kind of disconnected from how things work now.
That said, I can also see why they might leave them alone if the goal is to keep long-term tracking consistent. So I get both sides, but if the change is big enough to reshape the hero, the related relics probably should be looked at too.

I do not think they need a full redesign every time a patch lands. If relics are meant to be optional side goals, some of them being a little outdated is not the end of the world.
What would make more sense is a cleanup pass for the really broken cases, especially when a patch changes a core interaction and the relic starts asking for something weird or near impossible.

The real issue is whether the relic is tracking skillful play or just an old mechanic that no longer exists in the same form. If it is the second one, then keeping it unchanged feels sloppy.
A patch that heavily reworks a hero should probably come with a quick review of related progression stuff. Not necessarily a full rebalance, just enough to keep the targets relevant and not accidentally frustrate people who are still trying to finish them.

Yeah, even a small adjustment would go a long way. Nobody wants a challenge that quietly became nonsense because the underlying ability changed.

That was my thought too. Even a small text tweak would help if the old condition no longer matches the current mechanics.
