Would FSR 4.1 support on RDNA3 reach Linux soon after release?

Asked by VelvetPebble

If FSR 4.1 adds RDNA3 support, is a quick Linux update something to expect, or does the timing depend on changes to both Mesa and Proton?

I wouldn’t assume support will arrive right alongside the release. If it needs changes in both Mesa and Proton, they each have to be available and work together. There isn’t enough information here to put a date on that.

Look for explicit RDNA3 support in the relevant software updates, rather than treating the FSR release announcement as a sign it’s ready on Linux. A Proton setting may request a feature path, but it can’t supply missing support elsewhere in the stack.
