I keep running into railjack missions where the host ship is barely holding together, and the whole run gets shaky because of it. Would a guaranteed host option actually help, or would it just create other problems?
Would a guaranteed host option make railjack matchmaking better?

Yeah, I can see why people want that. For a mode that leans so hard on one ship carrying the session, weak host setup can make the whole thing feel messy before it even starts.
The cleanest fix would probably be some kind of host preference or lobby filter, not a huge premium unlock. Let players opt into hosting with their own ship if they want stability, and let matchmaking avoid dumping everyone into the most battered setup available.

I think the real issue is less about prestige and more about reliability. If the mode is going to keep using a single ship as the mission base, then matchmaking should respect ship quality, connection, and mission readiness instead of shrugging and throwing people together.
A guaranteed host toggle could work, but only if it stays optional. Some players want control, others just want a quick run and do not care whose ship they land in. Forcing one rule on everybody would probably annoy as many people as it helps.

Optional is the key part. If it became a paid gate or a hard requirement, people would hate it immediately, even if the idea behind it was solid.

And if the game showed basic ship readiness before you queued, that might solve half the frustration without changing matchmaking too much.

Honestly, I think the better answer is more transparency. Let players know the host setup before they commit, then they can decide if they want to stay or back out.
That avoids turning it into a weird status thing where the fanciest ship always wins. The mode would feel less random, and people who care about smooth runs would have a way to protect their time.

That would also cut down on the awkward part where you load in and immediately realize the session is probably going to be rough.

That sounds fair, but the game would need a way to fall back fast when nobody wants to host. Otherwise queues might get weird in quieter regions or off hours.
