I’m looking for PC games with plenty of gear to collect and combat where enemies visibly react to hits. Melee is a plus, but shooters are welcome too, and I’m not looking for a particular difficulty level.
Nioh 2 is a strong fit if you want gear constantly dropping alongside fast melee combat. Human enemies tend to flinch and stagger, though bigger yokai can take hits without reacting much, so the feedback depends on what you’re fighting.
Monster Hunter: World is worth a look for the weight of its weapon swings and the way monsters respond to attacks. The loot side is more about gathering parts from hunts and crafting specific gear than sorting through piles of random drops, though.
For a shooter, Remnant II has varied weapons and build gear, with enemies that can react to hits. It’s less of a constant stream of new guns than Borderlands, but the combat has more physical feedback than just watching damage numbers.
Vermintide 2 is a good melee-first option if you want swings to connect with a crowd and enemies to visibly stagger. Its gear progression is there, but the loot variety is more modest than in a dedicated loot-heavy action RPG.
