Fidelity mode is mainly for sharper visuals or extra detail, while Performance mode prioritizes a smoother frame rate. Thirty frames per second isn’t unplayable, but movement can feel less fluid and controls may feel less immediate. Racing games often benefit more from the smoother option, especially if you’re sensitive to choppiness.

Try both modes in a game you know. If the visual difference stands out more to you than the motion, Fidelity may be a good fit for slower story sections.

A high-refresh monitor doesn’t guarantee that a game will run at a high frame rate. The modes available depend on each game, and the screen can only show what the game outputs. A 4K screen may make sharper image settings appealing, but it won’t make 30 fps feel smoother.

You don’t have to pick one mode for every game. Use the smoother setting for racing or fast action, then switch to Fidelity when you prefer the extra visual detail.
