Is it too late to start Guild Wars 2?

Asked by PaperWindow

I started Guild Wars 2 recently and have been enjoying the exploration and story, with plenty of content still ahead. Is there a good reason to worry that I’m starting too late, or should I just play at my own pace?

If you’re enjoying the world and story now, you don’t need to catch up to anyone to get something out of the game. There’s no need to turn the remaining content into a race. Play the parts that interest you, and take breaks if it starts feeling like a checklist.

No one can promise how long any online game will keep going, so I wouldn’t plan around it lasting forever. But you also don’t have to decide whether hundreds of hours are worth it all at once. Try the next stretch of content and see if you’re still having fun. If the game’s future is your main concern, look for recent official updates before making a bigger commitment.

Starting late can feel daunting when there’s a lot to do, but having a long list of story and exploration ahead can also be a nice way to play without rushing. Pick a small goal, like finishing the next story section or exploring an area you like, rather than measuring your progress against longtime players.
