I’m returning to ESO and have a few characters in progress. I’m thinking of getting my main to level 50 first, then taking my time with quests and Champion Points. Is there much reason to slow down, and what should I practice as I level?
Getting to 50 quickly isn’t a mistake if that sounds more fun to you. You can still do quests at your own pace afterward. Just keep in mind that reaching 50 doesn’t mean you’ve finished character progression, so there’ll still be room to improve your build as you play.
I’d focus less on the speed and more on keeping useful skills progressing. Having skills from your class and weapons on your bars, as you’re already doing, helps you try different options. You don’t need to master every system before 50. Practice blocking, dodging, interrupting, and managing your resources during fights.
Since you’re close to 50 already, I’d go ahead and finish leveling if you’re eager to move on. Keep up the mount training and crafting research when convenient, but don’t let those chores crowd out the parts of the game you enjoy. You can learn more about your build as new skills and choices open up.
