How do you make Destiny 2 feel less like a checklist?

Asked by MossyKettle

After a break, returning to Destiny 2 can mean running into power requirements and a pile of catch-up tasks before reaching the activities you actually want to play. How do you keep it casual, or decide the grind is not worth it?

Pick one thing you genuinely want to do, then check what it takes to get there. If the requirements turn into a long string of chores, call it for the night. You don't have to catch up on everything just because the game presents it as a checklist.

I'd put a time limit on the setup part. Spend a little while figuring out whether your gear is good enough for the activity you want, and pursue only the progress that directly helps with that. If you find yourself planning a whole week of tasks before you've had any fun, that's useful information too.

Sometimes the game is more enjoyable when you like the routine and the steady goals. But if those goals feel like deadlines, there's no need to force yourself through them just to justify time or money already spent. Take a break, or play only when a particular activity sounds fun.
