Does the Zero fire trick work reliably?

The reported method is to aim at the left side of the hull just under the turret ring. It was said to work on both Basic and Insane, but treat that as a reported result rather than a guarantee.

One catch is that dealing enough damage can bring in the second enemy wave, so watch your damage if you’re trying to use the fire trick without advancing the encounter.
