Does Spectral Spirit shut off part of Dagath’s damage combo?

Asked by CopperAcorn

I’ve seen a report that Grave Spirit’s damage bonuses work differently while Spectral Spirit is active, including the doubled Phantom Wrath damage. Is that a reason to skip the augment, or do its survivability and energy benefits make it worthwhile?

The reported testing points to a specific interaction: with Grave Spirit active but without Spectral Spirit, striking Doomed enemies was said to double Phantom Wrath’s stored damage and the critical damage bonus. The effect reportedly stopped during the augment’s spectral state. That makes the augment a real tradeoff, but it doesn’t establish whether the behavior is intended or whether it still works that way in the current version.

If you want to check it yourself, compare the same setup against the same enemy with and without the augment, and keep Grave Spirit active in both cases. That should help separate the interaction from changes in build strength or enemy defenses.

Also worth checking whether the critical damage bonus and the stored-damage doubling are both affected, rather than treating them as one effect. The description may not make that distinction clear.

Even if the interaction is reproducible, dropping the augment sounds like a playstyle choice, not an automatic upgrade. The report describes losing convenient survivability, health-orb generation, and easier Doom spreading, while spending more energy on repeated ability combos. A damage gain can feel worse in practice if you have to stop and rebuild the setup constantly.

I’d compare actual clear speed and energy comfort in the content you play. If you enjoy casting and can sustain the rotation, testing without the augment may be worthwhile. If you want a smoother general-purpose setup, keeping it could still make more sense.
