What would make a companion who willingly feeds on mortals interesting to travel with, while still leaving room for players who want to finish their story?
Could a vampire companion be morally gray without feeling outright evil?

Let their reactions reflect the player’s choices. They could approve of feeding, taking lives, or keeping a curse, and disapprove of reviving people, curing curses, or entering places tied to groups that oppose them. That gives the companion a clear outlook without making every choice a simple good-or-evil test.

The story could make the vampire sympathetic by putting them against a hunter whose methods are even worse. That gives players a reason to help the vampire without pretending that feeding on mortals is harmless. The companion can stay morally unsettling while the player decides whether that makes them worth supporting.
