Video game development is the process of creating a video game using a team made up of programmers, designers, artists, story writers, actors and various other job types that work to create a video game. Up until the mid 2000s, video game development was often taken on by larger teams and was reserved for teams who had the money to make the initial development for the development kits.
The ride of indie gaming has triggered a huge change in game development. Game engines are cheaply or in some cases freely available for the average person to use. The advanced tooling they contain and the indie publisher platforms offered by console manufacturers and Steam allow a video game to be built and published by a single person.
