Space Goblin Studio has officially announced their upcoming game, ASTROBOTANICA, a cozy survival adventure that promises to immerse players in an alien world packed with strange flora, challenging environments, and prehistoric mysteries. Set against the backdrop of an ancient Earth, this game invites players to embrace their inner botanist and explore a landscape filled with untold wonders.
With development plans extending into 2025, ASTROBOTANICA is expected to embark on a journey beginning with a Kickstarter campaign, followed by a Closed Alpha, and finally providing wider access through a Public Demo before its Early Access debut. This game is designed to transport players 300,000 years into the past, giving them the chance to navigate the Pleistocene era, an epoch renowned for its lush ecosystems and primitive life forms.
Players will take on the role of Xel, an alien botanist whose mission is to experiment with unknown plant species, manage and cultivate farmland, and engage with early humans to establish trade and alliances. The narrative of ASTROBOTANICA unfolds as players collect seeds necessary for their survival and tackle puzzles that reveal the secrets buried within this prehistoric Earth. Collaboration with cavemen characters becomes a vital part of gameplay, enhancing the immersive experience.
Fans eagerly anticipating the game can look forward to a Kickstarter campaign set to launch in Spring 2025. Backers will have the exciting opportunity to dive into a Closed Alpha on Steam, providing them a platform to directly influence the game’s development through feedback. As the year progresses, a Public Demo will be made available in Autumn 2025, widening the circle of testers ready to offer their insights.
An Early Access release is strategically planned for early 2026, focusing initially on a single-player experience. However, Space Goblin Studio is keeping the door open for potential cooperative gameplay modes, which may be developed based on the early feedback from initial players.
ASTROBOTANICA is currently in development for Windows PC and can already be added to wishlists on Steam, allowing eager gamers to stay updated on its progress and future releases.
