FBC: Firebreak features

Remedy Entertainment has recently revealed an intriguing new gameplay feature for their upcoming title, FBC: Firebreak. The feature, known as ‘Altered Augments’, promises to add a unique twist to the cooperative first-person shooter, set in the acclaimed Control universe. Scheduled for release in Summer 2025 on PlayStation 5, the game harnesses the paranormal elements from its predecessor, amplifying the player experience with innovative tools.

FBC: Firebreak

In FBC: Firebreak, players join forces in three-player teams to fend off extradimensional forces. The game emphasizes teamwork and strategic coordination, permitting players to engage in casual gaming sessions without the necessity for daily logins. This flexibility appeals to gamers who seek engaging entertainment without stringent commitments. As ‘Firebreakers’, players step into the shoes of proactive combat engineers who are tasked with tackling paranatural crises using a variety of equipment and the newly introduced Altered Augments.

Altered Augments are paranatural artifacts transformed into weapons, each with its own set of abilities. These tools are not just for conventional combat but offer unique strategic options. Among them is the Garden Gnome, designated AI9, which can summon a tempestuous lightning storm. It’s a double-edged sword—effective in stunning and damaging foes yet capable of inadvertently affecting allies.

Another Altered Augment, the Piggy Bank (AI16), offers a whimsical yet destructive power. When shattered, it unleashes a swirling tornado of coins, damaging enemies caught in its path and remarkably reconstructing itself after the onslaught. Similarly, the Teapot, known as AI44, equips the player with a Crank-Operated Fluidic Ejector, enabling them to launch boiling water at adversaries. While effective in inflicting burning damage, it too requires caution as it can inadvertently harm teammates.

The game FBC: Firebreak is being developed by a dedicated team of 50 members at Remedy Entertainment. Their focus lies on delivering a rich, cooperative gameplay experience that retains the signature paranormal themes of the Control universe while introducing fresh mechanics that encourage teamwork and strategic creativity. With Altered Augments, players will have the tools to creatively tackle challenges and engage in dynamic combat scenarios.

The anticipation for FBC: Firebreak grows as its Summer 2025 release approaches. In an exciting move, the game will be available from day one for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, providing an incentive for early adopters of the service. The developer’s focus on both casual engagement and cooperative dynamics sets FBC: Firebreak apart as an eagerly awaited addition to the shooter genre.
