Hey everyone, I’m having some weird issues with the combat controls in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 on Xbox. When I try to swing my weapon, the first hit doesn’t seem to register at all; I press the right trigger but nothing happens until I swing a second time. I can parry instantly, but the first attack is flaky. Additionally, since the last update, switching targets with the right bumper isn’t working either. I’m curious if this is a bug or if I just need to get a new controller.

I’m on PC using a controller and I’m experiencing the same thing. It’s like Henry doesn’t really enter combat mode until your first swing goes through, which feels really off.
Same here, but I thought it might be because I’m streaming to my TV and sometimes the input gets lost. Glad to know I’m not alone in this!
This is actually a deliberate change from update 1.2 to prevent players from overwhelming opponents by attacking first. Now, you basically can’t strike first, which really messes up the combat. I’ve found myself stuck outside of combat while enemies have free rein to hit me, and I can’t even switch into combat mode properly. It’s frustrating, to say the least, and it feels like they made things worse instead of better. Reloading is the only fix I have found.
I’ve noticed that if I hit the right trigger before actually entering combat, it seems to help me get that initial swing in. I thought it was a problem with my controller too, so I’m relieved it’s just a game issue!
Totally agree! It’s so stupid to swing at someone and have it go right through them while they get a chance to hit back. It feels broken and I can’t believe this was their solution for balancing.
