I’ve been feeling nostalgic and couldn’t help but think about the Xbox 360, especially with its 20th anniversary coming up. Recently, while helping a friend clear out his parents’ house, we discovered an old Xbox 360 still running the original Blades Dashboard. It sparked some fun memories and made me realize how much I miss that design.
Since the Xbox 360 store closure, the current Metro Dashboard feels so empty and lifeless. I’d love to see a final update that brings back the Blades, but with all the features and settings added over the years, like Kinect support. It would be awesome to have the option to choose between the Blades, NXE, or Metro dashboards within the console settings. I know it sounds unrealistic, but it would mean a lot to celebrate the console in a special way rather than just letting it fade into obscurity.

Would be awesome if it made downloading old purchased games easier too. Last I checked, you had to go line by line through your purchase history to download anything. Not the best user experience!
I get where you’re coming from! I’d be down for a final update, but honestly, as long as it still plays games, I’m happy with it. That said, I really wish they would expand the backwards compatibility library. Only 632 Xbox 360 games out of 2155 is such a downer!
Haha, my first thought seeing your post was ‘the blades!’ I could really go for the return of that dashboard!
I think a last update could fix some massive oversights. Proper two-factor authentication would be great, and also the final dashboard design should not stretch game icons. It’s frustrating how the Xbox 360 isn’t receiving decent support anymore, especially given its legacy.
Totally! It’s such a bummer how limited the backwards compatibility is when there are so many classics they could have added.
