I’ve been thinking about how it’s a bummer that the creators of the Link’s Awakening remake wanted to include a Zelda dungeon maker but it got shot down. What do you all think—would a dungeon maker be a hit or a miss?

For me, I like the dungeons to remain unique within the game’s lore. They play such an important role, and I’m not sure a maker would keep that vibe intact.
I’d love to see a 2D or top-down Zelda game with a legit dungeon maker! Just imagine all the wild designs the community could come up with if given the right tools.
Totally! The community could create some amazing puzzles and layouts.
Yes, but I worry it might lead to dungeons that just reuse puzzles or end up being frustrating.
What I really want is just more than five full dungeons. Sometimes it feels like we’re not getting enough from the series these days.
Honestly, they already have a dungeon maker in Link’s Awakening, but it wasn’t as exciting as everyone hoped. It mainly used preset room layouts, which didn’t allow for as much creativity as I think people wanted. I get the appeal, but it doesn’t have the same widespread attraction as something like Mario Maker.
Yeah, I see what you mean. The potential for creativity is there, but it might not fulfill that same joy we get from more extensive dungeon design.
Exactly! It could definitely use more depth to really capture that fun gameplay.
100% agree, the lore and experience of dungeon exploration is such a big part of what makes Zelda special.
