With the recent buzz around the new Xbox handheld device, I’m genuinely curious about the prospect of a dedicated gaming Windows OS. I currently have my PC linked to my TV and would love to see Microsoft take it a step further with these features: 1. Maintain backward compatibility for both old and new games. 2. Ensure the user interface can be navigated solely with a controller, even emulating mouse and keyboard for legacy titles. 3. Implement game containers for easy saves management across platforms and isolation. 4. Enable Quick Resume for all compatible games, possibly using lightweight VMs. 5. Support for various game stores like Steam, GOG, and Epic, integrating their experiences. 6. Provide a way to include custom or old school games, with a backup feature for those. Anyone have insights or rumors about this happening? I’d seriously consider an Xbox-like PC for my living room if most of these features were included!

I saw a video from LTT that mentions this OS might not be exclusive to just the handheld, so who knows? It could be rolled out for PCs too!
I think your best bet is a UI similar to Steam’s Big Picture mode that’s designed for controllers. It makes sense, right?
Exactly! With Steam OS likely aiming for desktops soon, it would be smart for Microsoft to have their own solution ready.
