I’m really hoping for a Final Fantasy XIII remake, but I’m trying to be realistic about it. I think it could take up to 20 years since modern games from Square Enix take so long to develop. Plus, XIII doesn’t have the best reputation among fans. That said, it’s so overdue for a remake! If they approached it like the Final Fantasy VII remake and addressed the endless hallways along with the game’s overall glitches, it could become my favorite in the series. It’s already up there for me, but the original has so many issues that it’s hard to fully claim it as my favorite. The visuals are stunning even today, and I absolutely love the story and characters—so a remake would be amazing!

If they ever consider a remake, there are some tweaks they could focus on without needing a full overhaul. I think they should open up the combat system sooner, better explain the lore, and redesign the hallways to include more exploration options, maybe like what we’ve seen in FF16. The graphics are still beautiful, so that wouldn’t need much work at all!
If they do a remake, I really hope they keep the combat system from Lightning Returns because it’s my absolute favorite! The scaling and customization options were just phenomenal.
Honestly, I think XIII is the least in need of a remake right now. The game mechanics haven’t evolved drastically since the Xbox 360 days, and visually, it still holds up pretty well compared to other games from that time.
