Hey everyone! I’m considering getting a new computer or just upgrading my CPU and need some advice. I’m a huge fan of the Jedi games, and while Fallen Order is smooth, Jedi Survivor pushes my CPU usage to 100%, making my fans roar and causing crashes. My current specs are an Intel i7-9700K, 16GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER. Do you think upgrading to a higher-speed CPU (around 4GHz) will decrease CPU usage according to Task Manager? Will it help me run Survivor without my system overheating and sounding like a rocket? I’m also curious about the CPU usage in Stormgate, which doesn’t seem as demanding graphically as StarCraft 2. Any insights would be appreciated!

Upgrading your CPU can help reduce the percentage of CPU usage shown in Task Manager because a more powerful CPU can handle the same tasks more efficiently. Also, if your current CPU is overheating, a new one would have better thermal management, keeping your system cooler and quieter. Just be aware that since your CPU is a bit older, you might need to swap out your motherboard and RAM as well, which means a bit more investment. Alternatively, try adjusting your game settings to offload some processing to your GPU instead!
Totally, if you’re hitting 100% CPU usage, getting a new CPU can definitely help lower that percentage and improve performance. Your CPU is also likely throttling due to heat, which can lead to crashes and loud fan noise. Just like the others said, upgrading now would probably mean you have to replace your motherboard and RAM too, so factor that into your decision. You could also increase game quality settings to shift some load to your GPU if you want a quicker solution before upgrading.
