With the recent news about the Oblivion remaster merging the Unreal Engine with the Creation Engine, I’ve been wondering if something similar might be in store for the next Halo game. Can we expect them to keep that classic Halo feel while enhancing the graphics? How likely is it that they would switch to using Unreal Engine and still capture the essence of what makes Halo unique?

Honestly, I doubt 343 industries could manage using both Slipspace and Unreal Engine effectively. It seems more likely they’ll go all-in on UE, which might actually be a blessing. Fortnite feels more like classic Halo than Infinite did!
I don’t think they’ll use Slipspace this time around. But I believe they can still nail the Halo experience. Setting things like movement speed and jump height properly in UE could keep that Halo magic alive.
Yep, it’s confirmed that they’re looking at moving to UE5! This switch is partly because it makes things easier for the team by contracting out a lot of the basic level work. They won’t need to spend months teaching contractors about their old engine anymore.
It’s interesting seeing so many franchises moving to Unreal. While the engine is powerful, I worry about innovation when everyone is using the same tools. I’ve heard good things about the Oblivion remaster, especially how they balanced the old feel with new graphics.
