Hey everyone! I just got a sweet upgrade in the form of an RTX 4080 Super. However, I’m currently rocking a 5800X CPU and I’m worried about potential bottlenecking. I really don’t want to spend a ton of cash on new parts like a motherboard, RAM, and CPU if I can help it. I’m mainly playing FPS games at 1080p on a 165Hz monitor, and I really value high FPS and stability in my games. Right now, I’m using a 3070 Ti. Do you think my current setup will limit the performance of the 4080 Super? Any advice on whether I should stick with what I’ve got or upgrade? Thanks!

You’re definitely at risk of being CPU-limited with that 5800X, especially since the 4080 Super is way more powerful than what you’d typically need for 1080p gaming. If you’re playing competitive FPS titles, you might struggle to hit that peak performance, even at lower settings. I’d recommend checking your current performance with the 3070 Ti to see if you’re already CPU-bound.
