I’m worried about losing my Animal Well save data after the game leaves PlayStation Plus. If I decide to purchase the game later, will my save progress still be there? I want to make sure I don’t have to start over or lose any progress if I switch from playing it through PS+ to owning it outright.

Don’t worry, your save data stays safe even if you delete the game from your console after playing it via PS+. The save files are stored separately from the game installation, so they’ll still be there if you decide to buy and reinstall the game later.
You can keep your save data regardless of whether you switch between physical or digital copies. I had a physical copy of Dragon Age Veilguard, then got the digital one through PS+, and my saves worked seamlessly between both versions.
Just make sure you’re buying the game from the same region as your PS+ subscription. Sometimes save data or access can get complicated if there’s a region mismatch, but usually your saves should carry over fine.
Save data sticks around until you actively delete it. If you like the game enough, you might consider buying it after it leaves PS+ so you don’t lose access. The price can be a barrier, but at least you won’t lose your progress if you buy it later.
Yeah, the cost is what’s making me hesitate right now.
