I’ve been wondering if we’ll reach a point where new technology makes it reasonable to remake games that have already been remade. What kind of advancements could lead to yet another remake of classic titles like the 3D versions of Final Fantasy VII? Do you think we’ll ever see this happening for more recent releases like Elden Ring or God of War, beyond just remasters or ports?

I mean, as technology evolves, especially with VR on the rise, it’s gonna be wild to see what comes next. Not sure the remakes will be as impactful, but we can’t rule it out entirely.
True! And if you look at other media, movies keep getting remade. It’s a trend that seems to be here to stay; games are no exception.
I think at some point, if studios find themselves needing quick cash, they’ll jump back into remaking games we’ve already seen. It seems like a go-to move when they’re low on new ideas!
Exactly, but it’s more likely we’ll just keep getting reboots to cash in on nostalgia.
I just find it funny picturing names like “Kingdom Hearts Re:ReCom” or the endless remakes of classics like Skyrim. Where does it stop really?
Yeah, or we might see enhancements from VR tech, which could change everything.
