I want to get a new headset and there are lots of great ones at good prices for the PC, but not so many for the PS4. The connection looks pretty similar for both, so I am wondering if i can just use a PC headset with the PS4 since the connection should be no different.

Yea most PC headsets that use a single jack for the mic and headphones will work with the Dualshock 4. Make sure to double check the connection type though. A lot of PC headsets have 2 separate jacks, one for audio and one for voice. This has become less common over the years, but there are still some on the market. Also make sure it is not a usb mic as this will obviously not work with the Dualshock 4 and the cable will not be long enough to reach the PS4 in most cases.
